Hi there!
As many of us already know, I'm a little into "grid/marti" systems, but today I'd like to ask you some questions about a specific EA:
Forex Grid Trader or Setka Trader (1.6).
As anyone know, it works on M1 GBPUSD, in two different charts (one for long, one for short), and across some years it had very very good results, but:
Now, what I'd like to tell you:
What I'd like to ask you:
I think it has potencial, but it has to be handled with caution, optimizing time to time it's operative conditions.
Would you help me?
I'm ready to backtest/optimize with 99.9% data (dukascopy) since 2009 -> today, to share results, EA, sets, everything it's worth to be done.
- everyone told me that it's impossible to backtest it, due to the "two chart" particularity;
- it has fallen about 2/3 times during the last 2 complete years (2012 / 2013), due to high spikes/trends on GBPUSD;
- it has ever worked with the same set file since 2009 (first year of my persona backtesting);
Now, what I'd like to tell you:
- I tried to backtest on 99.9% data activating both long/short - IT WORKS! SO what's the catch? It seems to be able to manage both trades into the same chart (since backtesting on MT4 is like trying an EA on 1 chart);
- I'm thinking about optimizing a new set a let it go on a cent account (in order to meet the minimum of 25k units).
What I'd like to ask you:
- what do you think about one/two chart question?
- Which way you would optimize a new set (balance, profit factor, drawdawn, etc.)?
- what kind of lenght of period would you optimize on this kind of EA? (only a dramatic period, with large trend / spike, or a longer period -i.e. whole 2013 ultil today, or a shorter period of 3/6 months up to date);
I think it has potencial, but it has to be handled with caution, optimizing time to time it's operative conditions.
